Schizophrenia-related Illnesses: Current Research and Management LIMITED

Schizophrenia is characterized by persistent cognitive deficits, positive and negative symptoms typically beginning in youth, include: substantive heritability, and brain structural, functional and neurochemical alterations. Pathophysiology may involve a neurodevelopmental imbalance. Treatments which have thus far involved dopamine blockers are effective but unsatisfactory. New research is beginning to suggest alternative approaches using novel medications and psychosocial treatments that work by alternative mechanisms.
